I’m good at writing stories, but not so much when it comes to these “about me” sections. What do you want to know? What do you want to find out? Hopefully this short introduction will help. Asking is another good move.
I’m a writer, but that’s only part of the picture. I mostly write in a blend of genres, mixing themes, inverting conventions and experimenting with new forms of writing as well as trying to get to grips with older forms as well! So, Anglo-Saxon poetry (so Beowulf) and Alliterative Verse (best example is in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight), but I’m also interested in the epics of Homer.
Writing is a strange thing to enjoy. You find yourself stuck in front of a computer, typing away while somehow trying to make the words convey what you’ve got going on inside your head. It’s a pain, and I think it’s a socially acceptable form of madness. Hey, we’re dealing with imaginary things! Still, it’s good to imagine, and better still to share your imagination with others. That’s what writing is for me, a way to share the things I’ve imagined with others. There’s no other satisfaction close to being able to create a story someone will read and enjoy.
Apart being a writer, I’m a rock climber, a hiker, a scuba diver and a runner. I’m interested in history, especially the classical, medieval and dark ages. The latter in particular has a lot more going on in it than its name suggests.
